Taken from Men's Fitness magazine - Power Sledding By Eric Putter
Can you imagine the mental stamina and physical endurance required to ride a 500 lb sled for ten hours at a time?
A guy did just that, journeying with more experienced friends, Eric Putter, navigated the web of high-speed frozen freeways and slivers of wooded trails that comprise Quebec's extensive snowmobile trail system. Despite the fatigue, it was the kind of freewheeling adventure of which tall tales are made - and shared. Warmed by the camaraderie and energized by the physical challenge, Eric ignored saddle sores and soldiered on for 1,500 miles. The sheer beauty of running wild across frozen tundra in a frenzy of snow dust and testosterone anesthetized his pain, and found a new appreciation for sport he first tried in childhood.
He has now logged about 10,000 miles on snowmobiles and looks forward to making this wintertime blast an annual rite. Anyone can do so with some planning and mental stamina and physical endurance. An array of vehicular adventures awaits you at ski town, at resorts and on organized tours around the globe.
